The start of September means the transition to autumn has begun! Leaves changing to orange, red, and brown. S'mores. Crisp evening and morning air, and pumpkin everything! Getting into the spirit with a sunflower festival at Stucky Farm.

Karl Urban told me “You're a great Johnny Cage!” Karl Urban was lovely agreeing to pose for a picture recreating a picture he is holding of the 3 of us from earlier in the day. Cage-ception! My goal is to keep grinding acting gigs until I can cross paths with him in a professional capacity, and then get him to hold a photo of him holding the photo, recreating the recreation... Dolph Lundgren tried to have a conversation with me about Kyokushin Karate and where I go training, but his photo handler yanked me out so people could keep taking photos. Hopefully I get to train with him at some point. -NASH          Spent a weekend enjoying the “Chicago Fan Expo”.
One day I was a not-criminal treasure hunter, Nathan Drake from “Uncharted”, teaming up with Lara Croft from “Tomb Raider”. We made the “Top 25 Cosplay Staff Pics” for TheProjectCosplayPhoto! Another day I was Jack Burton from the documentary “Big Trouble in Little China”, in honor of meeting Kurt Russell and John Carpenter. I asked Kurt Russell if he could make a dumb face for our photo and he said “Shouldn't be a problem, I've been doing it my whole life.” But the gentleman was just too photogenic! He took a very a good photo. I'm almost more happy that I'm the only one making a dumb face, which is – plot twist – just my face. Chicago fan expo was super fun! Maybe I should hit up some more of these things? -NASH https://www.instagram.com/way_of_nash/ The day after refereeing the Kudo Daidojuku All North American Tournament I was fortunate enough to participate in a grading test for the next level of black belt. Though I was badly jet-lagged from Japan, and beat up riddled with recent injuries... I passed the grading! Barely. Thank you to everyone who helped me on that day! I look forward to improving further and helping to spread martial arts and Kudo. Held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, the North American tournament had representatives from Mexico, all over the USA, and Canada. Coming in from Japan to oversee and officiate where Komatsu Shihan and Ryota Fuku-Jukuchou the (incoming) Headmaster of the global organization. The turnout was good, spirits were high, and the style is growing, especially with some exciting plans in the next year. If you have an interest in Kudo, MMA, full contact karate or it's relatives, please find a dojo near you! Recently I passed through Detroit, Michigan to get to the nice little Canadian town of Windsor,Ontario...except it turned out the area was the epicenter for the Canadian wildfires that were clouding the air, and the town was hosting the North American Hell's Angels gathering! Ooops! Still was a nice visit though. -NASH  I recently had the pleasure of working with the incredible team at @Dreamonstudios.io on a multi-day shoot to create a tourism add for Kosciusko County, Indiana. The crew and other actors were all lovely and we had a blast. Hopefully our professional paths cross again, and we can make another cool thing. Kosciusko County is genuinely great, so if you have the chance to go experience it, please do!
-NASH https://www.instagram.com/way_of_nash/ When someone approaches you with a pitch to do a pizza shop promo, you might say yes. However, when that promo is an homage to the infamous “The Long Fight” from John Carpenter's classic documentary “They Live”, you DEFINITELY say YES! All things considered, it came out pretty good. Considering the original took a full crew 3 full days to shoot, after a month and a half of rehearsals... and this only had two camera guys, one of which was pulling double duty as the director, under 3 hours to film with no rehearsals or preparation at all, and two on-screen guys one of which had never done any camera work, presenting, or any kind of martial arts/fighting of any kind, and the OTHER guy was me...yeah, it came out pretty good all things considered. It came out exactly as I had imagined it when it was pitched, in a good way. Looking forward to creating more …art. This is art.
